Listening #2 - The Top Ten

Keep in mind that LISTEN is my word for the year.  Today I'm channeling David Letterman with the top ten things I like to listen to (or as dictionary.com says - "to give attention with the ear") - in no particular order.

the crackling of a fire

a baby's laugh

water running over stones in a creek

a gentle wind rustling leaves in the trees

frogs croaking at night when darkness first falls

the sizzling of bacon in a cast iron pan

birds singing in the yard

the quiet of a sunrise

the words "I love you" when they mean "you matter"

horses nickering

What is your top one thing you like to listen to?

  1. Great list. I agree with all of them. Maybe I'd add waves crashing on to the shore, being an east coast girl :)

  2. I love to hear the coffee maker in the mornings. Hi Jill, was just wondering if you had gotten your swap bottle yet? One never knows if things get where they are supposed to go.

  6. Jill, your word is fabulous! I listen to horses, sheep, alpacas, cattle, birds, dogs, cats, wind in the trees, tractors...mostly, the sounds of nature, along with farming. I've been sleeping a tad warmer, thanks to you -smile-. Bless you for your thoughtfulness!

  7. I love the sounds of the sea from gentle lapping to giant waves crashing against the rocks. After 30 yrs I'm back living by the sea and sleeping like a baby. Something about returning to the sounds I first heard, maybe? Your Listen project is beautiful.

  8. Hello, my Dear! Oh, my goodness...too many things! Cats purring...cicadas in the summer (before they get too intense!)...the sound of "Mom", or "Mimi" from my children and grandchildren! I've come to you from The "Grow Your Blog" party...it was over before I knew about it, but it was so nice of Vicki to leave the list up! Anyway, I always welcome new blogs to enjoy, and yours is delightful! I am now following you ~ please come and visit me if you get a chance!
    So nice to "meet" you!
    Hugs,
    Anne

  9. I enjoyed all your listening inspirations! My favorite thing to listen to is my children saying "Mama" or "I love you Mama". I'm hoping that's a sound that sticks around forever!
