Back in 1983 before there was internet dating (
So I had been reading some of the ads to my girlfriend and came across one that actually sounded like a normal person to me LOL She dared me to write to him and the rest is history. The way it worked was you wrote a letter, sealed it in an envelope, wrote a code number on the front, and put the envelope and one dollar into another envelope addressed to the magazine. The magazine would forward the letters to the proper person and then it was up to them to contact you or not. I had put my phone number in the letter (again, this was back in the olde days before email). Not long after, my phone rang and someone named Jack (what kind of irony is that considering I'm Jill?) introduced himself. We talked for hours in the evenings for a week or so and then made arrangements to meet. After that first meeting we had a date and I can tell you I was still a little nervous even after all that talking - in the back of my mind was "what if he's really an axe murderer". My hand was on that car door handle the whole way on that first date just in case I had to open the door and throw myself out LOL
Oh yes, back to lucky thirteen - we first met on a Friday the 13th. We also married on a Friday the 13th. And until the recession hit so hard, that wonderful
Untie a ribbon in your life – you might find an adventure!

He put me (as he saw me) in the issue...I was not happy...nor was my second husband!!! LOL That is so cool that you and Jack met that way! How fun! Pepper
